Optimise Pick & Pack
Increase small part storage capacity to increase pick and pack efficiency.
Mezzanine floors systems are a cost-effective way to maximise floor space and improve productivity in warehouse and factory environments.
At Unirack, we have three types of mezzanine variations: Racking, Longspan and Structural Steel Mezzanine Floors.
The most popular types of mezzanine floors are constructed from pallet racking or longspan shelving components as
they are easy to assemble, customise and relocate. Most are configured with shelving below making them perfect for
picking parts or smaller stocked items.

Designing a mezzanine solution can be a complicated process. Load capacity, floor type, access options, safety features and building obstructions are only a few factors to consider. Luckily, our teams have designed mezzanine solutions every type of industry, from mining companies to fashion retailers, and can help guide you through the process.
Unirack mezzanines can be constructed from Pallet Racking, Longspan Shelving and Structural Steel components. It is important to understand the benefits and limitations of each mezzanine type.
Assembled using standard pallet racking components, pallet racking frames and beams are combined to construct medium to heavy-duty structures. The floor is placed either on top of or in between pallet racking bays. The floor is made up of beams that hook directly into the racking uprights and are secured with locking pins.
Racking based mezzanines are free-standing and do not rely on any part of your existing building for support and can be easily relocated, extended or reconfigured if required.
Rack-based mezzanines can be multi-tiered, doubling or tripling the available surface area and can be complemented with a variety of shelving systems. Freestanding shelves can be easily installed between upright frames.
Longspan Shelving Mezzanines are a popular option for businesses dealing with small parts such as electrical components, mining equipment, automotive parts, archival materials etc.
A cost-effective and flexible storage solution for those looking to maximise storage density. Longspan beams are stepped to accommodate particle board, steel or mesh flooring.
Safety
Lighting and fire protection sprinkler systems can be installed to comply with relevant building and fire safety standards.
Structural mezzanine floors are a heavy-duty solution constructed from structural steel posts and beams. Custom made to suit your specific requirements this system will take large load capacities. Unlike racking supported mezzanines, structural steel mezzanines offer wider column spans and therefore can provide better underneath access.
These Mezzanine floors are often used for office and retail use or can be built over existing work and storage areas.
Floors are typically designed to 2kpa (200kg/m2), 3kpa (300kg/m2) to 5kpa (500kg per m2) live load capacities.
Unirack’s structural mezzanine is fully compliant with all relevant Australian Standards and the Building Codes of Australia.
